“WHAT WOULD THE FINANCIAL POSITION OF YOUR LOVED ONES BE IF YOU WERE TO DIE TOMORROW?” I’m not going to win friends at dinner parties for asking the dreaded “Life Insurance” question, but here goes (and I promise not to get any more depressing than this, so brace yourself):
An ETF or “Exchange Traded Fund” is a fund which you can buy or sell daily on a stock exchange, just like a stock, and which tracks the performance of something more diversified than a single stock (which only reflects the performance of a single company e.g. IBM).
If you read the occasional newspaper, watch the occasional television program, or chat with the occasional friend/colleague, you’ll have gained the impression recently that a stock market “correction” is not only likely, it’s inevitable. And “correction” means “downwards”, of course. Let’s look at the evidence, and consider what (if anything) can and should be done.
